Vaccination Protocol
Vaccination's can be a very touchy issues with different people, Vet's being the
primary as vaccination's are their "Bread & Butter" so to speak.
For years people have willingly taken their puppies & dogs to the vet for their
regular vaccinations, the most world known course of giving shots has been as
follows: 1st set of shots at 8 weeks, 2nd set at 11 weeks, 3rd at 14 weeks then a
booster at 1 year and every year to follow. Although there are some variances
to the ages (some give 1 set at 6 weeks...INSANE!!!) but for the most part it is
the same.
Here's the deal....for those of you that have kids, did you vaccinate them?
Did you follow the protocol completely?
Most will say "Yes", so then after they had their last set of shots for entering
Kindergarten, have they had yearly boosters for all of those vaccinations??
No?!?! why not??? because it is completely unessasary thats why.

Jean Dodd, DVM is the leading authority on vaccinations and I hope that each
and every one of you will do her the respect of atleast reading her newest
Vaccination Protocol, she works very hard on this project and is constantly
trying to make the lawmakers see how enforcing rules that dogs need to be
vaccinated yearly for Rabies is detramental to their health. Rabies vaccination
can/does/will cause health issues in dogs, I know because I have a dog here
that has health issues due to rabies vaccinations.

The schedule is one I recommend and should not interpreted to mean that other protocols recommended by a veterinarian would be less satisfactory. It's a matter of professional judgment and choice. Age of Pups Vaccine Type 9 - 10 weeks 14 weeks 16 -18 weeks (optional) 20 weeks or older, if allowable by law 1 year 1 year Distemper + Parvovirus, MLV (e.g. Intervet Progard Puppy DPV) Same as above Same as above (optional) Rabies Distemper + Parvovirus, MLV Rabies, killed 3-year product (give 3-4 weeks apart from distemper/parvovirus booster) Perform vaccine antibody titers for distemper and parvovirus every three years thereafter, or more often, if desired. Vaccinate for rabies virus according to the law, except where circumstances indicate that a written waiver needs to be obtained from the primary care veterinarian. In that case, a rabies antibody titer can also be performed to accompany the waiver request. See www rabieschallengefund.org
