Yes, "IF" your going to breed dogs, they should at least be AKC registered. However, the AKC (American
Kennel Club) is only a registering body, an AKC Registered dog does "Not" guarantee it is a Quality dog, it
does not guarantee it is free of genetic health issues, it does not guarantee it is not from a Puppymill or a
back yard breeder, it "Only" guarantees you they are registered

However, if you breed a "Quality" AKC reg dog to a "Quality" AKC Reg bitch, you have a good chance of
getting "Quality" AKC puppies
No, not all puppies produced by champion dogs produce all champion puppies, however, you have a
better chance of producing better quality puppies. When breeding purebred dogs, the one priority you
should always put first is to better the quality of what you have.
Here are a few questions you need to ask yourself before taking the step of breeding.

1. Is your bitch worthy of being bred? If you think she is, how do you know this?

2. If you breed her and she ends up in distress while in whelp are you prepared to pay the $1000.00+ vet
bill to have a C-Section?

3. How old will your puppies be when you decide they can go to their new homes?
Are you aware most reputable breeders do not allow the pups to leave until they are at least 10 weeks old?
Are you prepared to keep them that long?

4. If you sell a puppy, are you going to insist on spay/neuters?

5. What if a puppy buyer came back to you at any time and said they couldn't keep it any longer, would you
be willing to take it back?  Most reputable breeders take any puppy/dog back that they produced for the
life of the dog
Here is a list of requirements in order to breed to one of my dogs

1. Must be AKC (American Kennel Club) Registered

2. Must have a minimum of a 3 generation pedigree

3. Must be an allowed show color, (red, blk/rst, chocolate)

4. Must have a Brucellosis test

5. Must fit as closely to the breed standard as possible

6. Must have a sound temperament

7.  Must agree to and sign a contract with me pertaining to the placement of the puppies, (all Pet Quality
puppies must be spayed/neutered & sold with a Limited Registration).

8. A stud fee in monetary form is required, unless your bitch is an AKC  Champion of record with a good
pedigree I am not interested in a puppy for the stud fee

9. Even if you have all the requirements from above, it does not guarantee I will agree to breeding one of
my dogs to your bitch
