| ILLUSION ITALIAN GREYHOUNDS |
| The Italian Greyhound was the first of the Toy Breeds for us. We purchased our first Italian Greyhound, (Limone) back in 1995. She proceeded to break her leg just 2 days after we got her...at that time I thought, "Oh this isnt off to a good start", but it ended exceptionally well. Within 2 weeks of the pin being removed she was a t a show and gained her first points, after becoming the "Reserve Queen" she finally finished and I had my first Italian Greyhound Champion. I bred her to a Champion dog from Anthony Italian Greyhounds, she had 2 puppies and the girl finished before she was 9 months old only being defeated one time, when she finished she went Best of Breed over 4 of the top 10 specials in the country at that time and I had my first "Homebred" Champion. Her brother finished fairly fast as well. That was the beginning of our success with this sweet little breed. We dont feel breeding numerous litters of puppies makes you a "Better" breeder. We feel breeding "Quality" dogs on a limited breeding program is by far more impressive and therefore we are extremely selective as to how often we breed & where we will place a puppy as we want to make sure any puppy produced by us has the best opportunity to thrive for what it has been bred for, which is Show, family pet and with liuck may excel as a lure coursing, agility or obedience dog. |
